Given the salt already present in food or integrated in the preparation of meals, the addition of table salt is not only unnecessary but may be harmful too.

Salt is essential for life. Human blood and other body fluids contain many varieties of essential minerals. The human body consists of 62% water. Salt (9 g/l in blood serum) helps to maintain salt in this body water. If it is consumed in excess, an imbalance occurs and, as a result, this the salt retains water.

Water retention is a known phenomenon, but salt abuse is also associated with hypertension, a risk factor in cardiovascular disease, renal failure, osteoporosis, digestive cancers, etc. In short, many studies on the harmful effects of sodium on health indicate that the salt we find on our tables would be useful to disappear.

In North America, we consume an average of 20 to 30 grams of salt per day, in the form of sodium and sodium chloride (common salt). However, consumption of only 4 grams of salt per day is recommended. Total abstinence from salt being as damaging to health than excess, strive for balance!

Pure and white... apparently!

Salt, originally gray, is a product rich in minerals and trace elements, but refining it, as for sugar, withdraws its properties and increases its concentration of sodium, responsible for harm to health. This salt "chemically" pure and white represents further proof that clothes do not make the man and should therefore be wary of appearances...

When salt is playing hide and seek...

It is estimated that three quarters of the salt consumed comes from processed foods, while the remaining quarter comes to additions in the kitchen or at the table. The salt is mainly present in the baked goods, prepared foods and restaurant, dairy products and cheeses, cold cuts, condiments and sauces. Manufacturers in the food industry are reluctant to reduce the amount of sodium in their products. The prevailing view among the population is that slightly salted products lack taste. However, saturated sodium taste exacerbates the appetite and thus makes the excess. Salted potato chips are often cited, and for good reason!  If we reduce our consumption of salty foods and emphasize on healthy alternatives that have nutrient values, we will re-educate our taste but, more importantly, we will preserves our health!

Sea salt comes from a living environment of exceptional wealth, since it contains all substances necessary for cellular life! Despite all scientific work, the salt remains to this day impossible to reproduce using chemicals as its complexity is high. No marine animal could ever survive in artificial salt water...

The best sea salt remains that of artisanal production, which was dried in the sun before being washed with water. Sodium saturated taste exacerbates appetite and thus help us make excesses. In addition to using a better natural salt, you can give flavor to food using lemon, herbs and spices (thyme, cumin, savory, dill, basil, chives, etc.).

Bring the joy, freshness, exotic and, above all, a nice touch of vitality in our plate!
